Mural Viterbi (Detail) - Sandro ChiaSandro Chia
Mural Viterbi (Detail)
Family Room, Viterbi Museum USC School of Engineering

Sandro Chia (Florence, 1946) was a key member of the Italian Transavanguardia, the artistic movement which reached its peak in the 1980s. In the Viterbi’s Museum the artist has shaped an elliptically impressionist ceiling mural, celebrating the story of the Viterbi’s family. Painted with bold brush strokes, the artist wonderfully combines with the swirl of blue sky with the sea-green ocean waves.
